Needs From: Marauders with a Cause - Volunteer at Antelope Valley College

Volunteer: Student Success Conference

The Student Success Conference will take place on April 7th , 8th , and 9th and is designed for high school seniors who plan on attending Antelope Valley College (AVC). The conference helps incoming students get familiar with AVC by attending presentations about the college, meeting with counselors to work on their education and career plans, and learning about campus resources that will support them during their first semester.
We’re currently looking for student volunteers to help support this event! This is a great opportunity to connect with campus leaders, get hands-on experience working with the Outreach team, and build valuable skills for resumes—especially if interested in applying for a future campus job. It’s also a fun way to get involved on campus, meet new people, and make a positive impact for incoming students.
Volunteer Details:
Dates: April 7, 8, and 9
Time: 7:30 AM – 1:30 PM (6 hours)
Food: Snacks, refreshments, and lunch will be provided
Flexibility: Students can sign up to volunteer for as many days as they would like during the conference.

Volunteer: FIRST Lego League Robotics Mentor(s)

We are excited to announce an opportunity for AVC students to teach FIRST Lego League (FLL) 3rd-6th graders at a local elementary school. This program is about more than just building robots, it’s where kids learn complex problem-solving, teamwork, and "Gracious Professionalism."

To give these students the best experience possible, we are looking for passionate mentors to join us from now until June 4, 2026. We are looking for help in two main areas:

The Robot Game: Assisting students with LEGO Mindstorm building and block-based coding.Challenges: Guiding students as they use coding skills to complete simple challenges and develop creative solutions.Time Commitment: We meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2pm to 3:30pm just six miles from the AVC campus.

Volunteers should be able to attend each group meeting. You don’t need to be a robotics expert to help, you just need a desire to coach and encourage. We’d love to have you in the "pits" with us!
